Career paths

Pick a field — work that is hard to find in Uzbekistan, or open to you in a destination country. The bottom row is the doors open to you today; the top is where you could be in five years. For every job: what you do, what you need, and what it pays in each of the 29 destination countries.

AI

Data labelling, prompting, models and automation. Four of the entry jobs need no degree and are remote from day one.

IT

Software development, design, data, and testing. This field has the most jobs that require no degree and pay in US dollars.

Finance

Accounting, banking, audit, and tax. Most work is local and stable, but progression happens step by step.

Medicine

Nursing, pharmacy, and medicine. Most roles require a degree, but vocational college pathways are also open.

Education

Schools, learning centres, and universities. English is one of the few direct routes to higher pay here.

Tourism

Hotels, guiding, and tour operations. Doors are widest here for people who speak foreign languages.

Construction

Site work, architecture, and cost estimation. Most work is local, but Gulf packages are open.

Law

Advocacy, corporate law, and compliance. Most roles require a degree, and licensing is specific to each country.

Marketing

Content, advertising, and branding. Open without a degree, and English opens wider doors here.

Logistics

Warehousing, transport, and supply chain. Most work is on-site, while planning and analytics can be remote.

Manufacturing

Production, mechanics, and quality control. Germany and Japan rank high on this map.

Human Resources

Recruitment, labour relations, and training; English opens doors at international companies.

Journalism

Newspapers, television, and online media; English opens doors to becoming an international correspondent.

Design

Graphic, interior, fashion, and motion design; a portfolio matters more than a degree.

Energy

Electricity, gas, solar, and oil; Gulf compensation packages and Germany rank highest in this table.

Aviation

Cabin crew, air traffic control, and aircraft technicians; licensing and flight networks are concentrated in destination countries, with limited career ladders in Uzbekistan.

Psychology

Therapists, clinical psychologists, and corporate consulting; formal licenses like HCPC and LPC rarely exist at this standard in Uzbekistan.

Research

Laboratory work, PhDs, and biotechnology; grants and postdoc positions are in destination countries, with few such career paths in Uzbek universities.

Ecology & Sustainability

ESG, climate strategy, and environmental auditing; CSRD regulations drive demand in Europe, while the Tashkent market remains small.

Maritime

STCW certification, deck officers, and marine engineering; open-sea careers exist only in destination countries since Uzbekistan is landlocked.

Game Development

Game design, development, and live operations; relocation to studios like CD Projekt or Supercell is based in destination countries.

Film & TV

Set, editing, and VFX. Pinewood, Hollywood — this industry pipeline barely exists in UZ.

Veterinary

RCVS and AVMA licensing in the destination countries. Working in a UZ clinic is a different path.

Fashion

LVMH, Kering, Milan ateliers. Graduate schemes in Paris — boutique retail in UZ is not the same pipeline.

Diplomacy

The UN, think tanks, and embassies. Official diplomacy often requires citizenship — policy analysis is a more accessible door.

Sports

Premier League analysts, scouts, and agents. LinkedIn networking and UEFA licensing in destination countries.

Architecture

ARB and RIBA registration in the UK. The title 'Architect' is protected — drafting work in UZ is not enough.

Actuarial

IFoA and SOA exams in London and Zurich. Fellowship career paths barely exist in UZ insurance.

Music

Studios, production, and A&R. Major label credits happen in destination countries — the UZ charts are small.

Space

ESA, satellites, and mission operations. There is no mission control in UZ — engineering happens in destination countries.

Hospitality

EHL, Four Seasons GM. This is international hotel chain management, not tour guiding.

Social Work

BASW/HCPC in the NHS. Uzbekistan has assistants — licensed social worker progression is limited.

Patents & IP

EPO/EQE exams in Munich/London. An advocate in Uzbekistan cannot sign patent filings.

Food Science

Food technologist in FMCG, Michelin brigade in destination countries — teahouses in Uzbekistan do not offer this career chain.

Nuclear Energy

Reactor operator licensing in destination countries — Uzbekistan has no commercial reactors.

Pharmacy

GPhC pre-reg and clinical trials in destination countries — retail pharmacies in Uzbekistan do not provide an RPh career chain.

Radiology

HCPC radiographer and FRCR in destination countries — polyclinic X-ray in Uzbekistan is on a different register.

Climate

IPCC author and net-zero CSO in destination countries — inspector roles in Uzbekistan do not provide this career chain.

Robotics

KUKA integrator and autonomy lead in destination countries — CNC roles in Uzbekistan are not enough.

Gemmology

GIA GG and Christie's expert in destination countries — showcase retail in Uzbekistan is not a certification career chain.

Bioinformatics

NGS and biotech CSO in Boston/Basel — a lab assistant in Uzbekistan is not pipeline work.

Speech Therapy

An HCPC SLT in the NHS — an Uzbek defectologist is not automatically registered.

JORC resource geologist and VP exploration in destination countries — an Uzbek mine worker is not on this career track.

An HCPC NHS dietitian in destination countries — an Uzbek Instagram advisor is not on this career track.

Occupational Therapy

An HCPC OT in the NHS — an Uzbek rehab assistant is not automatically registered.

Care work

Nannying, home care and care homes. This is the widest legal route abroad for someone without a degree.

Support

Call centre, chat and technical support. English counts for more than a diploma here.

Trades

Welding, electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Certificates and hours, not a diploma — all the way to the top.

LevelThe salary figures show the level a role sits at in each destination country, on 2025/26 skilled-wage gaps. Use them to compare directions — the exact number comes from the employer making you an offer.
